PJ Crop & Create Charity Event

Today I spent TWELVE full hours at a special charity event sponsored by Charity Wings to raise money for our local Boys & Girls Club. It was called the PJ Crop & Create and was held at the Boys & Girls Club in Carlsbad. 10am to 10pm!!! Came home EXHAUSTED! BUT, it was a TON of fun!

Kat generously gave each participant this cigarillos box filled with lots of goodies.

Cynthia made this totally cool tag as a gift for all of us.

There were make-n-takes all day. I learned how to turn a t-shirt into this cool bag.

Cheryl Waters taught us how to engrave and paint on leather and I made my very first ever leather bracelet.

And I made this 6x6 page created and sponsored by Gee Gee's Stamp Store in Carlsbad.

Here are some of us girls still playing, laughing and hanging in the late evening.

Wild and CRAZY night at Book Club!

Tonight I went to my new monthly art club group called 'Creating Outside the Book'. A crazy wild time was had by all tonight as you will see from some of these photos.
.....Laughing like CRAZY!

We are all modeling our retro flashback t-shirt attire.

Elena, the leader of our group, told us all to bring in an old t-shirt for a surprise make-n-take. Well, we learned how to make string out of a t-shirt! Very cool!
Now you can see where all our crazy head bands and outfits came from.
She provided us all with a HUGE crochet hook in our kits to take home and encouraged us all to make something with our newly made yarn. It will be cool to see if anyone makes anything for next month.

Here is Kat having some flashbacks of the good 'ol days.

As always, we also went around the room and everyone shared what they are currently working on. I shared my new mermaid piece that was made from last month's kit.

Here are a couple other projects made from the same kit by others in the group.
Above was made by the talented Tricia and the talented Kathren made the one below. It is incredible how different all of them are.

Alma showed off this beautiful paper doll girl she made; inspired by Julie Nutting's work.
Elena completed this amazing background (above right) for her next canvas piece. So much texture. Beautiful.

Tricia showed us a VERY COOL way to store our magnets which are due next month. I think I might have to steel this idea. :-) Metal squares she found at Michael's for $1 and then she put it all together.

Cynthia displayed the starting pages of her fantastic new art journal.
She said she actually ripped out some of the pages she did not like from our play date on 3/16 that I showed off earlier. Good thing I got photos then. hee hee. :-) But, these are so amazing!
All I can say is WOW!

And finally, we all left as happy little campers with our new kits to take home. It came with one photo colored canvas to be altered, large crochet needle for our yarn and a bag full of goodies.

Here is what was in my kit. Star shaped punchinello, decorative tape, Crazy Tackz and green ribbon for St. Patty's Day.

The Doodle Girls Reuntie!

Our doodle class with Traci Bautista is over, but us 'doodle girls' decided to still get together occasionally to work on various projects. It was really nice to get together again with these ladies. I love our play dates! :->

Kat worked on a revolving canvas that she is doing with another club she is a member of. Each month they get a new canvas that they have to add something to. Kat added the wonderfully bright stenciled flowers and hummingbird in the upper section...love it!!

Cynthia started working on backgrounds for a new art journal. She was not too happy with some of them...but I think they are all great!!! Don't you?

And I worked on trying to do something with my book club kit I received in February. Here is a recall of what I got in my kit....canvas, flowers, perfect pearls and brush, sparkly sequin and stars...

By looking at the ivy ribbon, flowers and the sparkling sequins, I somehow saw a mermaid theme. I started by creating an underwater background on the canvas provided.

Then, I added a mermaid and some of the ivy provided in the kit.

Then, I added the sparkling sequin to make her tail. And finally, I added more details to complete the project using all the various items in the kit such as more ivy, flowers, butterfly, sequin stars, etc.

There are a few items out of the kit that I did not use. The garment holder, cool acrylic tag and red flower. I hope to make a separate project with those items. :-)

Creating Outside the Book Crop Day - Getting ATCs in the mail!

The new group I joined last month at Cool Scrapbook Stuff Store in Poway (Creating Outside the Book) had its quarterly crop day today. We met from 11am - 5pm. It was my first time at a crop. It was a lot of fun. Basically, a crop is when everyone brings art projects and we all eat, laugh and work on our projects together.

I brought the ATCs from the one I am hosting so I could get them divided and back in the mail. Basically, everyone sent me 6 and I had to divide them all up so that each person gets 6 different cards from 6 different artists sent back to them.

First, I mounted my info on the back of my cards with Traci Bautista's Collage Pauge. Then, I signed each one.

Then, I laid all of the art out keeping them with their own self addressed stamped envelopes.

Here are some more. Now this is the tricky part. I need to make sure no one gets any of their own art back or duplicates from others. Thank goodness Kat and Cynthia were here to help.

Phew! That was a lot of work. Yay! Happy to announce they are all ready to go in the mail tomorrow! What a fun adventure that was. I hope everyone likes the cards that they receive.
