April Doodle Girls

It was time again to get the doodle girls together.  Kat showed us what she learned in her Marah Johnson class.  So, today we decided to make some more of these beautiful ladies.  Thanks Kat!  I LOVE THESE MAGICAL LADIES!  :-)

Here is the one KAT made in her class.  Isn't it awesome?!!

And here is the fabulous one KAT made today for her art journal.

And here is CYNTHIA's.  She is not quite finished yet with hers.  But, it is already beautiful.  Can't wait to see it when she finishes it.  She was so sweet to stay up late last night making us a bunch of these colorful butterflies to use.  Thanks Cynthia!

And here is mine...  half way done....  I LOVE that pink/purple color...

And here is mine finished.   I AM SO EXCITED BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIRST ART JOURNAL PAGE!!! :-)

I LOVE MY MYSTICAL PRINCESS!!!!  Thanks Kat and Cynthia!  xoxo

April Creating Outside the Book Club

Once a quarter we have some type of art trade.  This time we decided on magnets.  Here is what I made to trade.  I took my original doodle girl painting and shrunk her down to a 2"x2" size and mounted it on Stampbord.  Then, glued a magnet on the back.

And here is what I got in exchange....

Then, we had our usual show and tell time.

Alicia made this ADORABLE bunny out
of paper clay.  AMAZING!...

Kathren made this oh so cute canvas...

Kat made this beautiful lady at a class she took
with Marah Johnson....

Gaye made these great cards

Monica made this very creative wedding date announcement card with the pull out date.  So cool!

Gaye made this cute little purse out of the t-shirt yarn we made last month.  Love it!

Then, Elena led us in our make-n-take using EcoArtBoard.

And here are some photos of our take home kits for this month...

We got some 'goosebumps' in our kits.  It is a new product.  Below is a little demo of some techniques you can do with it.  I look forward to trying some out. :-)

The New and Improved Mermaid

I finally got some more ivy for my mermaid art piece so I could take out the flower bouquet she was holding and replaced it with ivy instead.  I like it better now.

While traveling...

I had to go up to see my doctor in Northern California so I brought a little bit of art supplies with me for therapy.  :-)  I just drew the bird free hand with a pencil, colored it in with water color pencils and then blended with a water brush pen.  It was fun to color on the plane and a great distraction.

For the Birds - Strictly ATC Group

Tonight was my second month at the Strictly ATC (Artist Trading Card) Group at Stamping Details.

Our theme for this month's ATC trade was 'For the Birds'. To the left is my tropical toucan.

Arlene made this very cute water-color bird and bird house.

This one was made by Helene. I love the string with the egg that is wearing a hat to capture her bird's attention.

Joyce created this masterpiece titled 'cages are for the birds'.

And finally this fabulous one was made by Maura.

Then, Helene showed us a new technique. Color and Scratch. It involves using crayons or oil pastels to color a large patch of color. Then, you paint/cover over it with a mixture of a 1/4 cup of black tempura paint and 2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap. Once dry, you can scrape off the black to create art. The top three here are the ones I created.

And here are some MORE by the other ladies.

Meet Helene. Our fabulous technique teacher tonight. We all really enjoyed this technique a lot! It is very meditative and addictive. Works great with Zentangle techniques. Big thank you to Helene for a great evening.
